  • The L.A. Clippers cut the Utah Jazz’s series lead to 2-1 with a 132-106 win on Saturday night.
  • Kawhi Leonard and Paul George combined for 65 points for the Clippers who cut the Utah lead to 2-1.
  • L.A. has opened as a 4.5 point betting favorite to win Game 4 on Monday at Staples Center and even the series.

Kawhi Leonard said that there’s still a lot of fight left in the L.A. Clippers after his team fell behind 2-0 against the Utah Jazz.

The Clippers have been in this situation before, as they trailed the Dallas Mavericks 2-0 and then 3-2 before winning the last two games of that first round series to advance. But the Jazz are not the Mavericks.

Utah was the best regular season team in the NBA, the top seed in the playoffs, and they had beaten the Clippers in two of three regular season meetings during the regular season. Utah entered Game 3 having won six straight playoff games. Despite that, Leonard said that they were up to the challenge.

In Game 3, Leonard walked the talk and led the Clippers to a 132-106 win. They now head to Monday’s Game 4 as 4.5 point betting favorites at online sportsbook BetOnline. L.A. has also narrowed the gap in the series odds with the Jazz now just a slight -180 favorite and the Clippers only +160 betting underdogs.

Kawhi and Paul George Delivered for the Clippers

George entered the game shooting 34.4% from the field during the first two games’ of the series. He finished Game 3 with 31 points on 12 of 24 shooting, including 6-10 from three-point distance. PG did most of his damage in the first half where he scored 20 points with four three-pointers made.

In the second half, it was Leonard who took over, scoring 24 of his game-high 34 points during the final two quarters of the game. Leonard also added 12 rebounds and five assists for his 4th career playoff game with at least 30 points, 10 rebounds, and five assists.

With the Clippers’ superstars Leonard and George showing up when the team needed them most, the Clippers outscored the Jazz 37-26 in the second quarter to take a 15-point lead to halftime. Reggie Jackson and Nicolast Batum added 17 points each and the Clippers shot 19-36 from behind the three-point line.

Mitchell Left the Court With His Right Foot Wrapped in Ice

The Jazz kept the game close early on, trailing by just four points at the end of the first quarter. But the Clippers were determined to put them away and established a 15 point halftime lead behind a zone defense that forced the Jazz to shoot just 17-40 from two-point range. L.A. also forced 6 turnovers which led to 24 points.

Donovan Mitchell led the Jazz once again with 30 points, for his 5th consecutive playoff game with at least 30 scored. The last player to achieve that feat was Leonard during the Clippers’ first round series with the Mavs in 2020. However, Mitchell left the game in the 4th with an ankle injury and didn’t come back. He left the court with his right foot wrapped in ince.

Mitchell tweaked the same ankle that forced him to miss Game 1 of the Jazz’s first round series against the Grizzlies. Utah lost that game. However, he says that the ankle was fine but he didn’t return in Game 3 because they game was already out of reach. Spida says he is ready for Game 4 and he better be because the Clippers have found signs of new life.
