Conor McGregor In Cage

  • Conor McGregor has issued his first statement since his arrest last week in France.
  • The Irishman’s lengthy reply to the accusations thrown against him was posted on his private Facebook account.
  • McGregor announced his retirement last June but is still in the UFC’s roster of active fighters.

After being accused with indecent exposure and sexual assault in France, Conor McGregor has finally spoken. McGregor was reported to have tweeted and deleted a couple of disturbing messages after he was arrested last week and that got his fans and supporters worried about his state of mind. But on Tuesday, the Notorious was as unshakable as ever when he posted a lengthy statement in his Private Facebook account.

Conor’s Facebook Reply

Here is the full text of McGregor’s post on his private Facebook page:

I will never kill myself no matter how many wish for it. Try set me up all yous f—ing want over and over and over the truth will always set me free! Be it baby father claims, rape, indecent exposure, bulls–t WhatsApp group s–t. You f—ing name it. Never will I fold! The truth is the truth and it gives me wings! I know my character! God bless DNA! God bless Cctv! God bless Eye witness! God bless the truth! The truth is power! I am free! Never will a dime be paid to anyone coming at me with vicious lies! Not now not f—ing ever! I will fight! And I am only beginning my fight! All these past incidents you will see! They will not be forgotten! I will not allow these people to just accuse me and then disappear into the dark to attempt to ruin someone else life! No f—ing way!”

Denying Accusations

McGregor is denying the accusations here. He is in essence claiming that his accuser is making up a story to get money off him. With the way he wrote the post, it appears that there is at least one eye witness and CCTV footages that could disprove the allegations made against him.

In February 2019, 26-year old Terri Murray accused McGregor of being the father of her daughter. McGregor denied the claim but he was crucified in social and mainstream media. However, after a DNA test, McGregor was vindicated. It remains to be seen if the issue in France is another false claim on McGregor but it does appear that the Notorious in confident that he will be exonerated of the charges he is currently facing.

Not Officially Retired

The Irishman has not fought since defeating Donald “Cowboy” Cerrone at the start of the year. After that win, McGregor said he wanted a busy 2020 after having fought only two times since becoming a two-division champion in 2016. His only other fight during that period was a UFC 229 loss to Khabib Nurmagomedov in October 2018. However, with COVID-19 shutting down sports in March, he was unable to build off that momentum.

When sports resumed in May, McGregor had become frustrated. Last June, he announced his retirement from the sport, saying the game was no longer exciting to him. Then several days ago, McGregor Tweeted about the USADA paying him a visit while vacationing on his yacht. That visit proved that he is still in the UFC’s active roster and not not officially retired.

Plenty of Big Fights on the Table

While McGregor still has plenty of spoils left from his bounty after fighting Floyd Mayweather Jr. in a boxing match in 2017, he is the UFC’s top pay per view star of all-time and is still very much in his prime at 32 years of age. If the Irishman desires, there are still plenty of big fights on the table waiting for him.

McGregor was linked to a super fight with Anderson Silva but Silva ended up getting booked against Uriah Hall. The Irishman was also pegged as a -130 favorite in a possible fight with Justin Gaethje but the Highlight will now challenge Khabib at UFC 254. The Notorious has also been placed as a +270 underdog against welterweight champion Kamaru Usman but Usman is set to fight Gilbert Burns later this year. And then of course there is that trilogy bout with Nate Diaz. But first things first. McGregor’s fight right now is not inside the octagon.
