On replay, it looked like Nurk hurt his wrist while trying to swipe the ball from Malcolm Brogdon at the 8:45 mark of the third quarter. Nurkic immediately grabbed his wrist after the play. After the Pacers called a timeout in the ensuing play, Nurkic went straight to the locker room:

The Blazers still have Enes Katner and Harry Giles but none of those two have the ability to contribute on both ends of the court, as Nurkic regularly does for Portland. The seven-footer was the Chicago Bulls’ 16th overall pick in the 2014 NBA Draft. He was traded for the Nuggets before he could play his first game and after spending three seasons with Denver, Nurkic was once again traded to the Blazers.

Nurkic missed the first half of the 2019-20 season after breaking his leg in March 2019. He returned to action to play for the Blazers in the bubble tournament in Orlando. Nurkic averaged 17.6 points, 10.3 rebounds, 4.0 assists, 2.0 blocks, and 1.4 steals per game during the seeding games and put up 14.2 points, 10.4 rebounds, 3.6 assists, and 1.4 steals per game during the Blazers’ first round series loss to the Lakers in the playoffs.
He was off to a slow start this season, averaging just 10.3 points and 7.6 rebounds per game heading to Thursday’s game. Nurkic’s loss is a big setback to the Blazers who are already playing without Zach Collins who is out indefinitely after undergoing ankle surgery last month.
